Even in the case of construction, where a project manager must inspect the work of a builder, technical innovations are making it so that the PM rarely has to visit a job site. Your employer expects all employees to return on-site by July 1. You hate what this means — commuting 30 minutes to a cubicle, trading spontaneous walk with your dogs for office gossip and a formal lunch hour, and dressing in something other than sweats.
Writers and authors have always favored working remotely to have better focus and increased creativity. Today, most have multiple gigs writing for different publications - so working remotely makes sense. Alternatively, you can look for an employer more comfortable with employees working remotely, and vote with your feet — out the door.

Yes, reducing the commute also means having more money in the bank. Many like to make the conversation about remote work black or white— either everyone is in the office, or everyone is remote. Right now, our previously mentioned design manager moved to Palm Springs to skip the rainy Seattle spring. How to Convince Your Boss to Let You Work from Home

But for me, a quieter work environment, better control over my calendar, no commute, and easy access to care for my children’s needs would have given me a greater chance at managing my obligations at home while still advancing my career. After a year where many of us worked from home to find that productivity has improved, businesses should continue to offer remote work arrangements to best support their employees. Most offices have open floorplans where employees work close together with little to no barriers or walls between them. They do have some benefits, like the ease of collaboration among employees as well as access to more daylight.
